Only two games made the cut in yesterday’s NWSAFA Division 2 fixtures with the Easter Ross sides claiming the points against their North West Sutherland counterparts.
Kinlochbervie 0 Invergordon SC 2
In a tighly contested match played at Scourie, Invergordon emerged victorious to go top of the Division 2 table with six points from two games. Despite missed opportunities for Kinlochbervie’s Dylan Morrison and Kyle Mackenzie, it was Ali Mackinnon who broke the deadlock for Invergordon with a powerful strike from a tight angle five minutes before half time. In search of an equaliser, Gary Shand was unlucky for the hosts in the second half but the comeback was not meant to be and Invergordon extended their lead on eighty minutes when Ryan Gray shot home with a mid height curling effort.
Inver 12 Tongue United 1
Inver FC recorded their first win since their revival – and they didn’t do it by halves! Euan Burnett and Calum Greenlees had given Inver a 2-0 lead when Tongue got back into the game at 2-1 – but from then on the floodgates were well and truly open and the Inver lads were relentless in their pursuit of goals during both halves of the game. Euan Burnett notched a hat-trick, Jordan Hailes and Joel Burnett a brace each, while there were further individual goals for Jack Corbett, Aiden Stainke, Lyle Mackay and Simon Orenczak.
Lairg Rovers v Embo
The scheduled match between Lairg Rovers and Embo to be played at Ferrycroft Park did not go ahead due to Embo being unable to raise a team. Outcome to be confirmed.
